| After 6 adventorous weeks, we landed in Hawaii thursday oct. 4th. Thank you everyone who we have seen while touring the US and Canada, for making this a very memorable journey! |

We have seen, done and learned a lot, but also found time to relax inbetween. Our planned "vacation" at Karen's pool became a litter longer than planned, due to the awful actions that took place in New York and Washington DC. We had planned to go to Disney World and Kennedy Space center, which both shut down a couple of days, then there was a tropical storm anounced, and when all this passed, it was a little late to go anywhere. But we don't complaine, we were safe and had a nice, relaxing time with our family in Florida.
Thursday sept. 20th, we went back to Canada again, this time to cousin Paul in St. Albert. Paul took us on a tour through Jasper and Banff National Parks, after first showing us the Edmonton area. This included persuading somebody to open the train museum specially for us, a model train show and the world's largest mall. The evacuation from the model train show due to a fire in a neighbouring building was not planned, but what an excitement! Fortunately, as far as we know, noone was hurt, and we managed to buy three Amtrak Superliner model cars before evacuating.
We had a great time in the parks, and learned a lot about similarities and differences between Canadian and Norwegian nature, flora and fauna. We even had the opportunity to swim in water from Miette Hot Springs, where we stayed two nights! And off course, we stopped every time we had an opportunity to see a train :-) Unfortunately there were no trains when we stopped at the spiral tunnels between Lake Louise and Fields, due to a planned fire near one of the tunnel openings. But it was interesting to learn about the old, original line, and how they built the two spirals to minimize the steep descent of 4,5%!
Unfortunately we had very little time to see cousins Gwen and Carol and their families in Vancouver. But the time we had, was very nice. We will make sure to have more time next time :-) They took us to the train museum in Squamish, where we among other interesting things saw the post car renovated by Gwen's husband Gerry and his collegues.
After only two nights and one day, it was time to go one to the next adventure, taking place in California.
